We are a community of downtown Jews creating meaningful Jewish life together. What brings us together is a desire for Jewish life that is welcoming, thoughtful, joyful, and real.

Every synagogue has its own character.

City Shul was created to make Jewish life feel more accessible, participatory, and connected to the realities of contemporary urban life. Over the years, we’ve grown into a community known for combining warmth with substance, tradition with openness, and spiritual depth with a genuine sense of belonging.

At City Shul, members play an active role in shaping community life. Congregants lead prayers, read Torah, facilitate discussions, organize programs, volunteer, and contribute their talents in countless ways.
